Chinese Language Placement (placed out) Test

Something from the department recently says:

<students who="" would="" like="" to="" either="" take="" a="" chinese="" course="" or="" be="" "placed="" out"="" have="" the="" placement="" test="" for="" chinese.="" can="" taken="" online="" soon.="" there="" will="" an="" announcement="" on="" east="" asian="" studies="" webpage.="" if="" you="" wish="" placed="" out,="" receive="" certificate="" pass="" test.=""></students>

Anyone could shine any light on this language placement tests? What kind of test does it look like? How does it compare with SAT II Chinese?

I was born here but family speaks Chinese. I understand the most of day to day oral Chinese, read some and write a few. I have a Chinese SAT II 760 but which is only 38%. Do I need to do some preparartions to pass this test. I really want to be placed out now, so I could concentrate some other things. Thanks.

if you scored higher than a 740 on a language exam SAT 2, you are placed out. Either that or a 4/5 on an AP language test.

I called the department and they said: < anyone who wants to be placed out on Chinese language has to take department placement test and pass it....>

740 cut off on SAT II might be for French, German, Spanish...., not for Chinese.

Anyone has more lights....?
