Choate Interview!

I'm having an interview with an alumni in Thailand soon
What questions will they ask?
How should I act?
Is an off-campus interview taken as seriously as on-campus?

Yes, very serious. Be yourself. They want to know if you are self motivated. Tell them what you
re passionate about. There are no trick questions. It
s a conversation to see if you are the right fit. Have a list of questions for your interviewer as well. This is your chance to see if the school is right for you too. Good luck.

I don’t really have any questions to ask them. Would they think that I’m not that interested in their school. I’ve done some research on this school and got some information. Are parents allowed to listen to the interview? or are they asked to wait outside of something

If you’ve already gotten the information you need, and know Choate is where you want to be, then be prepared to explain that to the interviewer. Tell the interviewer what’s important to you, what you needed to know about Choate, what you found out, and how that influenced your decision to apply.

Rather than just say, “I already have all the information I need,” say “This is what I found out - and I’m so excited about it!”

The more you’re able to tell the interviewer about who you are, the easier it is for the interviewer to decide if you’re a good fit for Choate.

another big question.
Will they interview me in english or in my native language? Since the interviewer is Thai, then I think he’ll probably speak Thai.

Choate Day this Saturday!

Alex - What is “Choate Day”?

Each school has a rival, and for Choate it is Deerfield. Each year, typically at the final weekend of the regular athletic season, the two schools square off in multiple athletic contests. This year it’s Choate’s turn to host. They’ll actually feed the Deerfield athletes (several hundred kids). Day typically starts with field hockey and soccer games ending with football. Unlike most saturday meets, the start times are staggered so that kids can root for the different teams. Along the same lines, I think Exeter is headed to Andover and St.Mark’s to Groton this Saturday. It’s the only time where you’ll see banners and shirts printed with ‘Beat Choate’ themes, some fairly creative.
