@GoldBlue: Thanks! How does the sit-down lunch work?

You’re assigned to a table and report to that table at your designated time. There will usually be one faculty member and five or six other students at your table with you. Lunch is served buffet style.

FYI. To get the number of your posts up high enough to send PM’s, just visit some other threads and write some token comments quickly

@GoldBlue: Thanks! Do the assignments change every time?

No, you keep the seat for one term.

@GoldBlue: That’s great! It allows you to really bond with everyone at your table. Thanks for the answers! :)

No problem. Feel free to PM if you have any more questions.

Thanks! I will when I get more questions, definitely! :D

Hi Goldblue! For freshman boys, what dorm do you recommend?

Hey, Sunfest. There is only one dorm for freshman boys: Memorial House. It is the largest dorm on campus housing all of the freshman boys and many faculty members.

Thanks Goldblue! Is Memorial House mostly doubles or singles? Can you request a particular arrangement before the start of the school year? How was your experience as a freshman?

Hey goldblue thanks for the pm and what about language courses at choate I think I might want to try Spanish or Chinese do you know how those classes are? Also what is the policy of bacon at choate and what do you think of Deerfield?

@Sunfest - Mem House is mostly made up of doubles, but there are some singles as well. You fill out a housing survey before you start school. If you request a single, you may still get a double depending on how many other students want singles. You are not allowed to choose your own roommate the first year, but you can choose after that. I was not at Choate as a freshman, so I missed that experience.

@Squash - Spanish, French, and Chinese are the three most popular languages at Choate. PM me for more information of specific classes. Bacon is usually served at breakfast… and I just think of Deerfield as another prep school.

Thanks Goldblue!

@Goldblue hahahaha just another school

What are intramural sports? And do you get to choose an intramural as a for example fall sport?

@Goldblue, is it easy to get into the third team?

Hey @sunfest, i thought i could answer your question. In short: it depends on how many people are trying out. Usually, it’s really easy! If you’re trying out for 3rd basketball, just be able to dribble a ball and shoot the ball somewhat NEAR the basket :P

@swedishswimmer: intramural sports are the complete opposite of interscholastic sports. They’re just for FUN! No competing, just practicing. also, none of the intramural sports have practice on fridays so that’s a bonus!

@soccer617 so if I wanted to do intramural crew during the fall, I would just practice but with no competing? In Sweden we don’t have sports in school so I really want to know what I can expect

I’m not sure if you can do intramural crew in the fall, but if it’s available yes, you just practice with no competing. It fulfills the requirement of doing a sport for that term.
