Choate Summer Program

Hi everyone,

I am thinking about attending the academic enrichment at Choate this summer, and I was wondering what courses you recommend. Also how is the campus life? Please let me know anything else I should know, because this is my first year and I don't know what to expect! Thanks guys/girls!

I don’t know much about the academic enrichment program, but the campus life is fantastic! The dances are so much fun, and everyone is typically really friendly. I went two years ago, and I’m going again this year for the theatre program! I hope I’ll see you there. (:

If you have any questions about campus life (or the food, the people, anything!), message me!!

thanks! Also, are we allowed to walk into town, like to a local cafe? or is that only for boarders that actually attend the school?

I went to Choate last summer and we had great access to the town of Wallingford.

All of Wallingford is considered campus (I believe this holds true for summer as well) so during any free time you have, you are able to walk downtown (7 minute walk) to the shops and restaurants.

thanks! And do any of you know what dorms the middle school academic enrichment programs would stay in?

I know that the freshman boys dorm (Memorial House) is open for the summer, but that’s it…

Ahh! I went to the middle school writing workshop last summer and I’m doing academic enrichment in the high school this summer! It’s soooooo much fun! Campus life is great! The dances are super fun, the SAC is really great to hang out in, everyone is really nice and it’s just awesome! You can go to Wallingford whenever you want if your parents give you permission. You can also go to Boston or New York on the weekends when they have trips as well as Six Flags. You can take a taxi to the mall in Hartford, or go to new haven. New Haven is often looked over by most people but is a really fun city. Good shopping and food. But if you have any other questions, message me! It’s a ton of fun, you should definitely go.

Thanks ryork! Im definetly sending in my applications now, even though it’s a little late!

You might also consider Taft’s Summer School, although it may be full by this time.

I went to Choate '35 Institute in Gov. & I LOVED it! Best experience of my life, my teachers were awesome, and all of the girls in my dorm ( Archbold) were so fun :)
