Hello dearies, I've been accepted to Choate Summer Writing Workshop. I was just wondering what you all have to day about it, as well as possibly answer a couple of my questions. Can Middle Schoolers go into Wallingford without a chaperone? What field trips are there (NYC, Boston, Six Flags...)? What is the daily schedule like? What time is dinner and meals? Do you get homework from your program? In that case, study hours? Lights out? How are the dances? For people who did the writing workshop before, what do you do during the course (middle school)? Is it really 8 periods a day? Is there Saturday classes? What to do on weekends? Fitting in/ making friends?
Wow. I know that's a lot (sorry). If you could answer any that you know ANYTHING about, I'd be much obliged. :)
Also, as a last one, do loads of people that go to the summer programs go to Choate for high school?

Bookie - Congratulations on getting into the program! I can’t answer all your questions, but might be able to refer you to some resources.

Choate Summer Programs has a Pinterest site and one of their boards is about field trips for this summer: [Choate Summer Programs Trips](http://pinterest.com/choatesummer/choate-summer-programs-trips/) There’s also information available about summer social activities here: http://summerprograms.choate.edu/bbcswebdav/institution/Summer%20Programs/Accepted%20Students/2012-SAC%20Calendar-Downtime%20.pdf

Homework is assigned and there are study hours at night. They spell it all out for you: study hours, curfew and lights out. They also have something called Vendors after study hours which is when local food places come on campus and you can buy stuff to snack on.

Students are allowed to walk into downtown Wallingford – there are some rules surrounding how/when, but nothing too bad. They spell it all out in the handbook they give you. Your parents will need to fill out a permission form, but you’ll want them to do that anyway so you can go on the trips and such.

Downtown Wallingford is great. You don’t want to miss the cupcakes at Mr D’s. There’s a Pinterest board on downtown Wallingford in case you want to see some of the places: [Wallingford, CT](http://pinterest.com/choatesummer/wallingford-ct/)
