I’m forced to go to UCSC. Which college is the best one (NOT LIVING ON CAMPUS)? Is there any difference among them? If so could someone list them for me below?
Which college allows me to graduate the fastest? Also I’m looking for a college oriented around academics with research opportunities, honors societies, etc…
i think there is no college suitable for anyone forced to come here - we have 3 banana slugs in the family & we love the school
Yeah, seems to me this is a thread for students appreciative and happy to be going to SC, so the condescension in that query is unnecessary and inappropriate. And anyone who has an internet connected google machine can find lists of the colleges and their various characteristics.
Oh jeez. I didn’t mean it like that. Sorry if I offended anyone. I actually got a full ride here so I’m grateful. I was probably a bit grumpy at the time because I was rejected from Berkeley yesterday.
UC Santa Cruz has recognized my academic excellence, leadership and achievement something UC Berkeley failed to do. The higher ups in UC Santa Cruz went out of their way to meet with me personally and screen me for the scholarship I won. The UC Santa Cruz admins wanted to know my specific situation personally. UC Berkeley doesn’t even do that. They simply pick the students who get it based on the UC application which doesn’t make any sense. UC Santa Cruz offered me a full ride. They gave me a chance no other school has ever given me in my entire lifetime. They say UC Berkeley is the most holistic in admissions in the UC system. I see now that is a pure lie. UC Santa Cruz went above and beyond for me when UC Berkeley barely did anything for me after everything I did for it.
The Berkeley rejection hurts personally because I have worked towards Berkeley for 3 and 1/2 years (that will pass with time) but Santa Cruz has shown it loves me. Always go to the school that loves you, never to the school that you love. That way you don’t get crushed when it lets you down eventually.

My advice is go to community college first. You have got some serious growing up to do. EVERYONE works hard. Lose the entitled attitude bc you will fail if you go to a school you think is beneath you.
@ucalum
Hey there. I’m actually a transfer into the University from a CCC. Like I said above I am sorry for what I said earlier. I was just upset that I was rejected from my dream school. I’m grateful for what UCSC has done for me and I’m actually looking forward to being active on campus in terms of leadership and research.
Again I’m sorry if I offended anyone by what I said.
