Hello all, I have a question about what school would be best for me to attend. I know that I want to major in computer science and possibly double major in another field of engineering, but I for sure know that I want a career as a software engineer or programmer. I was accepted at Northwestern University, RIT, the Ohio State Honors program and a few other colleges. The three that I'm seriously looking at are the three that I listed above. I know that RIT is a good school for computer science and engineering. The honors program at OSU is also pretty good especially as its academic standards have been improving over the years. However, I know that Northwestern is a great school for engineering, I'm just not sure about its department of computer science and electrical engineering. Besides just the schools and their academics, NU would cost me about 30k a year while the other two would be around 10k (OSU) and 20k (RIT) a year. I'm just wondering is Northwestern's prestige worth the higher price tag? And if not which of the other two is worth my 4 years of undergrad?

You’re better off in Ohio State honors. You’re saving money, and that 40k/80k you would be spending at the other two isn’t really worth it. OSU has a very good engineering department.

Also, I don’t know if I want to go to graduate school or not, so I don’t know if this would have any effect at all on what school I would choose, if the undergraduate school I choose will have an effect on what grad schools will think of me.

You have 3 other Big-10 schools (Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois) that are near the Top-10 in various graduate CS research specializations. I would think that a good GPA from Ohio State would get into any of those schools graduate CS program.

…and that’s just for a fresh grad. Some work experience before grad school would even help you even more as far as admission.
