UIUC vs tOSU for CS

Hi everyone, I'm trying to decide between these two schools and wanted to hear what others have to say.

(This is a general run-down)

I'm in-state for UIUC, but OSU gave some very generous scholarships so the cost is fairly equal, with UIUC being 20k more expensive over 4 years.

UIUC CS is ranked #5
OSU CS is ranked #30ish

UIUC has more passion and support within their studies, while students at OSU seem to be happier and more comfortable with life.

I would be in the honors program at OSU

UIUC is also closer by 4 hours so that helps a lot.

Columbus is a better city than Champaign (in my opinion)

I think I'm leaning towards UIUC, but I also want to hear what others have to say so I know I'm not missing any important details. Thank you!

You’re in-state for UIUC, so I would say UIUC by a landslide. I know for the most part rankings aren’t as big of a deal for computer science, but the job prospects between a top 5 CS program and a top 50 CS program is significant enough.

UIUC has a great balance of rigorous academics, a vibrant social scene, and a plethora of extracurriculars and other programs (look up the Hoeft Technology & Management Program). You won’t regret picking UIUC over OSU.
