Choosing a summer camp teacher

S has to submit first and second choice piano teachers for Interlochen. His teacher doesn't recognize any names, but she said how important this is, and urged S to call or email his top choices. I think I have two matches from the list for S' personality and goals, but we're new and could use some pointers. Should he email these teachers before making the request, and what should go into the message? What would he really get out of this? (We expect him to correspond w/ teacher after assignment is finalized.)

Second, if anyone iis willing to look at the list & offer opinions, please pm or email me.

Hello Catbird!
We just sent our request in to Interlochen. My d is a junior in hs, flute is her instrument. Luckily, her teachers recognized a couple names. She also went through to see what schools they were affiliated with...especially where they are teaching hoping to make more contacts with schools.
I would not hesitate to send an email to teachers. We would have done the same thing.
Best wishes. My d is so excited to be going. She will be glad when she can focus only on her music. End of the school year is so hectic.

I appreciate the encouragement. We feel a bit let down by S' teacher. S is swamped with AP exams and is also a bit young (14) to do this himself. He wants me to decide for him, but what do I know about teachers at that level?
