choosing an alternate CAMPUS

hey guys!

i was just wondering for the Penn State application, it says that even though University Park is my first choice campus...i should also choose an alternate campus

do you guys know which would be a good choice? my guidance counselor said the curriculum on each campus is the same, it's just a matter of location and if i feel comfortable there...any suggestions? (i live in NJ, so not too far, within 4 hours, looking for nice-looking and NOT in-the-middle-of-nowhere campus)

THANKS!!

I have heard Erie is good for engineering/sciences but you need to check it out because this is just word of mouth.

hey Sax, thanks for your input and immediate response!

yes Erie has good reputation for academics but rather far from NJ. Also I don't know specifically about the campus but the Erie area in general is pretty depressing.

I think about half of the campuses do not have dorms and are basically commuter campuses--you should check this out on psu's website.
A lot of kids choose Altoona since it's close to UP. Some of the students who live near Philly choose Berks--they have dorms and would be one of the closer campuses to NJ.
