Alternate Campuses?

My son was waitlisted for UP campus, and so we are going to try to figure out if any of the other campuses are something to consider and if he has a decent chance to get onto UP campus.....what a crapshoot: if you go on waiting list, you get no housing at any other campus!

So, two questions:

Does anyone have good information about how many are accepted from the waiting list?

Does anyone have any info or experience with any of the alternate campuses? He's an engineering student, from Va. so maybe Erie is not on the map for us...maybe Harrisburg, Altoona, etc. I did find out today that their housing is full already too..not many of the alternate campuses had housing open, but their stats don't look so hot.....

Thanks!

1) It depends on how many people don’t accept the offer, maybe around 500.

2) I can’t answer that one, sorry.

Earlier this year someone posted a statistic about waitlist movement; if you do a search you should be able to pull it up.

I believe that about 20% of students in the COE transfer in from the branch campuses. Altoona is very popular because of its proximity to UP (and football). Local State College kids who want to get out of town often go to Erie; I would take this as a recommendation since many of the parents work for the university and should be able to get good information about the other campuses. I don’t really know anything else about the other branches.
