Choosing an Essay Topic...

Well, I have a choice between:

Having a tumor and parent having cancer: How it changed my life and how pushed me to change the world with my degree.

^ Pushed me from being a hapless Gifted kid with little ambition, to leadership positions in multiple organizations, clubs, and city hall.

Ties into my ECs: How I using mass psychology and marketing to further the environmental agenda.

^ I am vice director of an environmental organization that deals with hundreds of thousand of dollars in renewable resources a year, and installs them on schools across my country.

I'd go with the first. I think that admissions personnel want insight into your personality and goals. I think talking about how you manipulate the public could be risky, even if you do it with good intentions and goals in mind.

I'd go for the first topic as well but a bit of advice: be very careful with what you write! That topic has loads of potential and has probably been used tons of times both successfully and terribly.

Agreed. The second topic sounds very ambitious, but it's easy to start blankly bragging given the topic.

The first one would also reflect yourself, more than the second one which revolves around the community.

Thanks. I ask because I was wondering if the first one was too clich
