Can't decide on which topic (between 2), that I should write about. Please Help!!!!!

Hello, I have been deciding between these two topics, and I just can't make up my mind. My first choice was going to be about how my mom's hard work has influenced me. But I am scared that it is going to be too much of a biography about her. I also feel that it is going to be a common topic that people use. I feel that I have a lot of information that I can include about her positive impact. My second choice is about how my speech impairment has influenced my life and how i have overcome it. I feel that this could possibly be more meaningful and personal. Please let me know what you think on these two topics and if either one is a good idea. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey! I think that number two would be less cliche, and possibly more meaningful? Both are very good choices - you just have to make sure that YOUR voice comes through. Which one are you more leaning towards?

Hello, I think I just wrote on your thread, also about choosing a topic. I am leaning towards topic 2 because I feel that I can be more passionate about it. I feel that topic one is the safe choice, less risk and less reward. I feel that if I can make the reader understand how I overcame an unfortunate event, and how it has showed me how hard work can pay off, the essay will be more powerful. Thanks for the advice and please let me know if you have any other comments. Thanks.

I personally think number two is more powerful. That’s just me though. I would just advise writing both essays and comparing the two. The process can tell you a lot!

I think I’m going to do that with my essays…

Cheers mate!

(Thanks for your advice with my thread.)

I agree with number 2 being more powerful. Thanks for the advice and I am going to write both of them. I think that it is also a good idea with yours. You have great topics and you could be surprise how even the eyelash one can turn out. Good luck with your essays and thanks for the advice.

Pick the one you are most passionate about, the one you can relate to most. Even if the first one is cliche, if you think your mom’s impact on you is more important to you than overcoming your impairment, choose that! The worst thing is making your essay sound ‘forced’ because you were trying to please the admissions officer. I’m sure they can tell sincerity apart from fakeness.
