Hi!
I was recently admitted to SDSU and am seriously considering going there next year. On my application, I chose my major as undeclared. I was wondering if I’ll be able to choose a major that’s impacted? On the SDSU website there’s a list of the “impacted majors” at the school, but the list is actually rather long and I know that I’ll want to pick a major that’s on that list. Will I be able to?
Any help/advice is appreciated!
Thank you
First of all, SDSU is an impacted campus meaning all majors are impacted but some more than others. Which major are you interested in switching into? Since you are admitted as undeclared, you will meet with an academic advisor to go over your options to declare a major. You should be able to choose a major as long as you meet the pre-major requirements. You can get all your questions answered at the Freshman orientation as stated below:
New Student Orientation
Undeclared freshmen are encouraged to participate in the “Undeclared Session” during New Student Orientation. Here you will learn strategies to choose a major, Career Services support during your major exploration process and Fall 2016 class schedule recommendations. To register for New Student Orientation visit: http://go.sdsu.edu/student_affairs/orientation/
does this mean that all majors (except nursing) would be open to me as long as I meet the pre-major requirements?
Yes, if you meet the pre-major requirements you should be able to switch into any major except Nursing. I would still check with your academic advisor since major requirements and impaction status can change.
