UVA hands down. top notch academics, great rep (though it's also known for it's crazy parties), and awesome sports..

I'd pick UVa or UMich over BC, easily. What state are you from? How much money do you have to burn? UVa and UMich are basically peer schools, but UVa might be a little cheaper for an OOS person, and certainly is warmer.

Depends on what major.
UVA is great for humanities, especially history. Both UMich and UVA have great undergrad business programs, depending on whether you want to focus in that.
Other than that, if you're going to pick the best school overall....I'd have to agree with ^ and ^^...UVA has the best weather out of the three and Charlottesville is an awesome town. If you're going by sports, all three have great athletic reputations.

I am interested in the social sciences and humanities. I am an international student, so basically I get money from none of these schools. If I go to UMich or UVA, it'll probably be ~$40000/yr. For BC, its gonna be ~$50000/year.

How'd you compare UVA and UMich by academics? Social scene? Opportunities?

There's no meaningful difference between UVa and UMich academically at the undergraduate level. Socially, both have a ton going on. Job recruiting is very strong at both. Why not visit both and then decide?

For academics, I would probably go to UVA > BC > UMich. The social scene is fantastic at all three schools.

FWIW Boston and Ann Arbor are very cold in the winter. C'ville not as much.
