choosing between classes

So my school let me know today that due to scheduling conflicts, I need to decide whether to take French IV or AP Biology my senior year. I hate French with a passion and am kind of looking for an excuse to get out of it, but I don't think that colleges (especially Ivies) will be thrilled to see only three years of foreign language. And with AP Biology, my teacher is amazing and I am almost guaranteed a 5 on the exam. Here is the rest of my schedule so far:

AP Calc BC
College Credit Expository Writing
Psychology
Honors Economics

If I didn't take AP Biology then I would take:
The 4 above
French IV
CC Human A&P
AP Euro

If I didn't take French IV then i would take:
AP Calc BC
CC Expository Writing
Psychology
Honors Economics
AP Biology
Accounting or AP Euro

So what should I do or in other words...what do colleges want to see?

Bonjour! (I know you hate French; that was just to annoy you:)) This is quite a common sense question. If you truly hate French with a passion, you wouldn't even think of taking French and would go for AP Biology.

Ideally, you would take the classes that you find interesting, and colleges will see that you've challenged yourself. For example, I'm in my fourth year of Latin, but that's because I actually like Latin and don't want to take anything else. Of course, it's generally better to accept students who have shown long-term commitment to their studies, ceteris paribus (with everything else being equal; e.g. same GPA, same extracurriculars, SAT scores, same everything else). But you should take what you're interested in.

Just out of curiosity, if you hated French so much, then why did you take French I, II, and III?

well okay so i guess it was a little bit of exaggeration, i don't HATE it as much i just dislike it. And I took French I because my sister took it and I thought that I would enjoy it too. Then I continued because colleges like seeing foreign language, same reason most of the kids in my school are still in language classes.

but thanks for the advice, I think I will go with AP bio.

yea, go with bio, colleges really don't care that much if you took 3 years of language instead of 4. They might just glance at it and go "eh," then move on

Biology, not even a tough choice. You would even be bale to say that you couldn't take French due to scheduling issues.
