I currently go to a private school in PA, Albright College. I am forced to commute due to price, but I am thinking about transferring to a cheaper school so that I can live on campus. My question is, are all the state schools in PA "the same prestige" or is one better than the other? Im looking into WCU/Bloomsburg/kutztown/Millersville/IUP/etc... I want to major in Chemistry to go on to become a forensic toxicologist. Any recommendations of a school or input is appreciated!!

I know that West Chester has gotten tougher to get into. An admission rep told me last year that the avg freshman gpa was 3.5 - way more than it used to be. For my daughter’s school, Naviance said the avg gpa for accepted students was 3.3.

Do you want to be in a city? Small town? Middle of nowhere? That may be the biggest difference.

All of the state schools are regional and roughly identical.

It honestly does not matter about the location. I guess the more stuff to do around campus, the better, so I guess I would choose city. I just wanted to know what my best bet was with price and the chemistry department.

I would say the schools do have areas they are known for. Slippery Rock is known for physical therapy and I’m told criminology grads from IUP do well in the job market. Don’t know which school is known for Chem.
