Choosing Classes?

I feel like an utter noob (for lack of a better term at the moment). When/how exactly do we choose our first quarter courses? During orientation? When we move in? Has it passed without my knowledge? Do we speak to advisers about which courses to take?
Some clarification would be appreciated.

depending on your college, you might talk to a college advisor. i can’t speak beyond my experiences but in muir’s freshman orientation we each had 15 minute sessions with college advisors.
is your enrollment time not available on tritonlink yet? if not, i believe its around late august/early september.

It isn’t up yet.
Thank you!

All the freshmen will be assigned random registration times that will take place during the last week in August. You’ll be notified of your “appointment time” in advance, after which you can log on and select your classes.

After fall quarter the registration is done by number of units, so your classmates with more units will get to register first.

In every college, some sort of advising is done, whether it be at orientation or online (ERC’s was online). They’ll tell you what classes they think you should take - depending on your major, it’s usually some mixture of college writing, math, chem, and GEs. But a lot of it is doing your own research with what your college GEs require (it’s good to get GEs out of the way first in case your major changes) and what classes fulfill those GEs. Check out the schedule of classes on Tritonlink and your college’s website to learn more… however I wouldn’t recommend doing this now, you don’t need to start thinking about it until registration gets closer. Enjoy the rest of your senior year!

So the registration times are determined by lottery? Around when do they e-mail you with your appointment time?

I’m in E. Roosevelt, if that makes any difference.

I remember getting my appointment time in late July/early August. It might be a little earlier than that.

Ah, thank you much!
