Signing up for courses

I'm an incoming Freshman and I was wondering if anyone knows when course signups are due and where I can find the GE requirements.

what do you mean by signups? you mean the registration appointments?

GEs are on your college website. you should print it out and keep a copy on hand.

thanks for that, i just found them.

i don’t know what you mean by “registration appointments” but I’m just confused about when I’m supposed to select my courses.
I’d like to do this as soon as possible to make sure I get the classes I want instead of having to stay on the waitlists.

Every freshman is assigned a random time during the last week of August, which you can access on Tritonlink. When your registration time arrives, the system will then let you access WebReg so you can register.
So unfortunately you don’t have a choice of doing it as soon as possible, as it’s all the luck of the draw. In future quarters, however, every student registers based on how many units they have - so in theory, seniors go first, then juniors, etc. The random time is only assigned fall quarter of freshman year. Good luck!

ah okay, thanks.

so is it whoever gets to pick first gets the courses they want? or is everything just randomized once everyone puts in what classes they want?
and do you know if this “registration time” has anything to do with my orientation date? i’m an international student so i signed up for the fourth session which isn’t until september…

No it has nothing to do with your orientation date. It is COMPLETELY, 100% random.

You can still get the classes you want even if you are on the last day, it’s just less likely. The people who register first are just going to have the best pick of times and professors. it’s more likely that there will be seats open in the classes they want in the beginning of the week. Does that make sense? There is only a certain # of seats open, so obviously if you’re end of the week it sucks because all the seats can potentially be taken.

Also - not everyone will want the exact classes you want, so try not to worry about it too much

Thanks so much, that was greatly helpful :D

I just started looking at the class schedule and see that some classes have discussion sessions, lab sessions, or both. When you pick a class, do you also have to pick the discussion / lab sessions too?

you pick your classes by actually clicking on the discussion section you want (or can enroll in) – lecture comes along automatically. ditto for lab classes.

^ Ah, that makes sense. Thanks!
