choosing courses for senior year

Hi, I’m a junior and this year, I took

AP BC Calc
AP Biology
American Studies (English and American history class combined)
4th Year Spanish
Advanced Photography (full year)

I have to choose courses for next year (senior)
and intially, I signed up for these courses:

AP Stat
AP Econ
1st Year Advanced Chinese
Modern East Asia history (first semester)
Europe Since 1920’s history course (second semester)
Independent Study in Photography and related media (full year)
Senior English electives (first and second semester)

So each semester I would be taking 6 courses.
But my college advisor suggested that I take harder courses because the colleges might think that I am slacking off senior year. She wants me to consider Multivariable Calculus class or another AP science.
I am thinking of competitive colleges, but I don’t want to take certain courses just because it might look good on my transcript… I want to take these courses because that is what I want to study, not to slack off.

What should I do? Any advice?

Thanks

I personally don't think you need multivariate calculus because you already took AP Calc BC. AP Stat is a worthy followup to AP Calc BC particularly if you don't care that much about math.

You are missing a science course. Colleges want to see five core courses each year: English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Language.

I don't have a strong feeling on this. You already took Ap Biology and you probably want to major in history. The only decent science course you could take would be AP Physics. There are two versions of AP Physics. The AP Physics B course is a good survey physics course. The AP Physics C course is intended for future physics/engineering majors. You might want to avoid AP Physics C. To be safe, it would be better to have a science course.

One other consideration is that your guidance counselor writes your college recommendation.

Don't take something because it will look good on your transcript. Take something that you want to take.
