Can I decide to take E/M for the Biology Subject Test during the test itself? Can I take a minute to go over the two sections and decide which one to officially do? Or do I have to pick which type prior to beginning the examination?

Yepp, you can definitely do that. You can even read over the questions and decide which one you’ll do better on. I suggest plowing through the first 60 questions as quickly and as accurately as possible so you have time to look through both sections and decide which one to take. Just make sure at the end of the test you bubble in the correct test (E or M, which can be changed from what you bubbled at the beginning)

Are you sure about that- I just spoke to College Board help desk and they suggested that E and M are two separate sections in test booklet and you have to decide before opening book. CAN someone please clarify this discrepant information??

does anyone know the answer to this question??

Questions 1 - 60 are the same for both tests, and are only printed once in the book. If you decide to take the E section, you continue on to question 61 and finish with question 80. If you decide to take the M section, you skip over the pages with 61-80 and answer question 81-100. You don’t have to decide which you are taking until you bubble in the appropriate spots on your answer sheet. Of course, this is a timed test, so just doing one section may be a better approach than taking five minutes trying to decide which one to take.

Ok, thanks for the information! I managed to do both sections with the 60 in the beginning in an hour, so hopefully I’ll have enough time to choose which section to do for real.
