Hello guys !! I hope someone can help me .
I’m so confused now on what to do , where should I go ? . I got accepted to ucsd to revelle college under molecular biology major and from the reviews that I have been reading ,it seems people doesn’t have a good perspective on revelle college . What I have read is that revelle college is the hardest college, and that they don’t have a social life . Is that true ? Like I would like to be focus on school and succeed but at the same time I would like to be part of the community . If I go to revelle college am I gonna have time to do clubs or being part of social events ? . All that six college thing got me kind of confused and insecure . As well as ,I got accepted to sdsu and this past weekend I attended to the open house and I really liked it. I would just like to know , what you think about ucsd ? And do you recommend me to do ?
All your answers will be appreciated
Yes, Revelle is one of the two hardest colleges at UCSD, but everything else is definitely not accurate. Revelle has a great social scene and community, and tons of students are involved in multiple activities. (One of the Revelle RAs last year wanted to try every club/activity on campus). HUM and the other GEs are challenging, but not all-consuming. You’ll have more than enough time to join clubs and party. UCSD has the #6 department of biology in the world; I wouldn’t give up the research opportunities and connections you could make here.
Only you can make the decision on where to attend. If you didn’t visit UCSD, you really need to do that. Then you can compare for yourself. Each school is very different.
People tend to belittle SDSU because it has had a reputation as a party school for years, but the entering GPA’s continues to rise; they’ve become very selective, and they have a good advising team for grad schools. It does have the athletics, that many students follow, and lots of clubs and activities. SDSU is a great school in spite of the comparisons. No, its not “UCSD”. SDSU has great professors, who actually teach without GA’s, and it has a strong alumni base for networking.
Revelle will be difficult, but if you are very disciplined, you should be able to do well. You have to visit the school and
department before you make a decision.
I echo @aunt bea’s advice. A campus visit is definitely worth it before making a decision.
