Choosing Room Occupancy

After applying for housing, do you have the option of choosing double or single occupancy?

as a freshman it will most likely be double for you although some layouts have a single per floor. in other words you have no choice...unless your roomie is an axe murderer.

Yes, you'll have a chance to express your preference but all singles are awarded by lottery.

Warren has quite a few single rooms in the Residence Halls. Don't know about the others colleges.

im in warren...i hope i get a single =(

when do you get to choose preference? i'm looking at the housing application and you choose the apts/res hall and it sends me to the submit page

I am in Roosevelt college and it shows two types of housing: residence hall and Residence Hall Rate Saver. Anyone know the difference?

Residence Hall Rate Saver = triple occupancy

How do you know what is the best doorm. So if I got accepted to Revelle , then does that me I must enroll in revelle dorms. What about the coed/all-girl situation.

You have to stay in the Revelle dorms unless they don't have room. I suppose the only way you can tell which is the best is to visit in person.

"What about the coed/all-girl situation"

Depends on each college but I think rooms are same sex but halls are coed, meaning each room on that floor is randomly selected Male/Female.

I was afraid that you would say that about the Coed(hall). Now it makes me more concern about living in the dorm.

You can try an appeal to move to ERC (or at least stay in their dorms). The population there is 75% female and the dorms are apartment quality.

I'm sure something can be arranged if you call them.

If all else fails tell them your Muslim and you can't be seen undecently by men and you need a dorm with a floor of all women.

Good idea!!! but what is ERC: If I switch to it would it delay my application process????

on the housing thing it only allows me to check "residence hall" or "rate saver", so howcome you guys are all talking about going to dorms in ERC?

also, in each of the colleges there are like 3 different kinds of dorms, but we cant chooose them right? is it just random placement within the college?

The dorms are in the Residence Halls.

Some colleges have a third choice of "Apartment". ERC doesn't. Besides, if you're a freshman applying for housing, they AUTOMATICALLY put you in a dorm.

yeah i dont think you're going to get a single as a freshman. its pretty much either double or triple. my brother was in a triple in erc his fresh year and tho the dorms are apartment quality, they are not most definitely not apartment SIZE

"what is ERC"
Eleanor Roosevelt College

"If I switch to it would it delay my application process????"
They say you can't switch but I would call them or pettition them to change it.

"also, in each of the colleges there are like 3 different kinds of dorms, but we cant chooose them right? is it just random placement within the college?"

You can choose. Rate saver is 3 persons. "Res hall" is the regular 2 person room. And some colleges have the option of a single (which they are starting to get rid of because the transfer students have no room).

How are the dorms like in MUIR ? Male/Female ratio?

can anyone confirm whether or not we can choose specific dormitories to be housed in? for example, in Revelle there is the Argo dorm, Blake dorm, and the fleets. when i submit my SIR will i be able to request a specific housing area?

so we can't request a single suite? its just lottery? ahhhhhh...
