Singles vs doubles

I’m going to ERC this fall…how do I get a single?

blow whoever is assigning the housing
otherwise you can probably forget about it

hahaha...good idea...........i want a single too.........

on the housing application, you check the box marked 'single room'. i think you have to say why you want it, too. you have to have a good reason. goooooood luck

my housing application didnt let me pick a choice...

Nononono, after you have filed your SIR for UC San Diego, you will receive the REAL housing application in June or so. It asks you questions about your sleeping habits, music preferences, etc. That's the application where you can tell them that you want a single room. The one you signed was like a placement application that tells them how many rooms they need to reserve for freshmens.

hahah..."nononono" that was cute...but thank you for clearing that up =]

Why do you guys want a single? I think the idea of having a room mate is kinda nice. Assuming you get a good one that is.

There is only 1 single in each dorm so they are hard to get. They will cost you about $500 more per year and the room is really tiny - far smaller than the double rooms. Id suggest that you take a look at the rooms first before you try for a single. You'll get a single for free in second year anyway, since all the apartments are singles.

do most people move to apartments after their freshman year?
