Choosing Teachers for Recommendations

So schools typically like you to get a teacher recommendation from two teachers in two different subject areas, so one in math or science and one in english or other arts/humanities.

However, what if you are much closer to teachers you've had in math and science? Would my chances be lower if I had two recs from science teachers, even though they would know me better? Or is it still best to have a rec from the two subject areas so colleges can determine well-roundedness?

from what I remember, requirements were generally required from different subject areas (STEM, and liberal arts), if they aren’t required…definitely go with the teachers that know you better.

Alright, thanks. Well I am submitting the recs via the Common App, so do you know if there are requirements from the Common App regarding who the recs come from? Or is it pretty standard for all schools to require recs from science/math as well as the arts?
