I took the CHSPE October 2016, and passed. I went to my school to ask to leave but they told me I should stay because it’s not an actual high school diploma and it doesn’t look good. They told me on a job application I can’t fill it out saying I have my high school diploma because it’s just a legal equivalent not the actual document. I still face confusion with that today and I don’t know if I should speak to them because there’s a lot of drama around the topic. A few months go by, and I’m currently a part time college student so I could fulfill all of my credits in order to get my diploma in July. However, I reconnected with an old friend of mine and when I told him my situation he replied “that’s weird, they didn’t tell me to do that I was just able to walk out.” What should I do?
Did you ever figure this out? With CHSPE if you are a minor you are still bound by law to attend school unless you get some written authorization by parents to leave. My confusion is that I thought I could drop high school after getting chspe and start college but a community college told me that with chspe I can enroll in college courses but only if I’m concurrently enrolled in high school, while still a minor. I’m trying to find if this is true or not. They said if I had my high school diploma I can enroll as college-only student but not with just chspe, while a minor.
