CIE and AP in India?

Hi
I’m a student of DPS RK Puram, New Delhi, and would like information on the following matter -

I’m in Class XI right now (Junior High)
Will a percentage of 80 in Class XI (Sc with Comp), and 85 in Class XII,
good recommendations, President of Exun(Computer Club), Founder of a Society, Winner of MANY quizzes, and being good essay writer get me anywhere like Stanford or Cornell?

SAT scores of say, 2300 (I and II)

Can I take any examination like the AP’s or the CIE in India? Will they make a difference to my application? How do I go about giving these exams?

Thanks
Bharat

Hi!
Well,it is a good thing to take CIE or APs(it would be better to take CIE coz it is easily available..) if u hav enough time to dedicate to these exams......
otherwise CBSE is not bad.....it is always better to score 90s...but,there is no such compulsion......
As for ECs.....its better to utilize as many opportunities as much u can afford to....(not in one field alone..).....
hope this helps.......

You would need to join a CIE affiliated school in order to give A levels, or you could give them as a private Candidate but i doubt that the latter would help.

APs and A levels would help a lot if you choose your subjects wisely, there's no point in taking PCM again at A levels/APs.

i have a similar doubt...can u take ap's anywhere in india without being part of a school like the american embassy school which is the only school to offer ap courses in dehi

You can give APs as a private candidate. I think AES allows ppl to take APs with them as a private candidate.

do you noe who i can getin touch with if i want to give the aps and wen can i give them

I thought that giving the AP's or the CIE could compensate for my not that great academic record.

Which would be more effective and which would be easier to give?

You say that we can give the AP's or the CIE's as private candidates. Any ways of contacting them?

Thanks everybody.

Hypothetically, If I do take these tests and get an A (CIE) or a 5 (AP) in PCM. Does that give me an edge? Will that improve my chances off getting into the aforementioned universities?

Call/Visit the site of Britich Council and CB for A levels and APs.
Bharat: Definitely, but if you can get A/5 at A-levels/AP you could surely get 90+ in your CBSE exams.

Yeah, I was being conservative about my CBSE exams. But those exams will take place in March 2008. Isn't all the application submission (Regular Action) supposed to be over by December?

which part of high school do they pay most attention to, academics wise?

As for which part..........well the only part they consider is..........EVERY PART!!!!.....evrything is equally important!!
n ur thinkin of applyin this yr or 2007????

I'll be applying next yr, to begin studying there in 208

Will giving the AP or the CIE (and getting good scores of course!) improve my chances of admission?
