<p>yes, AP helps in getting admission. it shows the adcoms that you have taken challenging courses in high school</p>
<p>APs are different than CBSE, but not that difficult. It is easier than CBSE but method is different.</p>

<p>it helps for admission if u give APs at the end of 9th, 10th or 11th grade. For credits and saving money u can take them even after 12th before going to US. </p>
<p>as i have already said, i took 2 APs in physics C after my 9th grade at Ahmedabad international school and i will be giving 2 more - AP calc BC and AP BIO this May at Cathedral school mumbai. </p>

<p>@akshay, i contacted them but to know avail! The deadlines over, I think I;ll give them in December then! but the thing is how will i report my scores to colleges? coz i’ll be applying in oct-nov.</p>

<p>oh u report them whenever the results come out…u tell them uve given these tests after self-studying and report them the grades when they come out… i dont really know when those come out but they should before the admission decision is made</p>

Princeton reveiw for both physics B and c are good for AP. i studied from that and Resnick Halliday for Physics as a ref book</p>

you can show the APs as your senior year work load for admission though it will be without grades. The results are acailable on phone with a charge of 8$ on phone in first week of July so they won’t be available before your decisions are made. But they can still be useful for credits and there by saving money</p>

Taking AP will not boost your chances for admission.
Look at it that way , AP will make the admitting commitee treat you as any regular US student.However if you apply just like that they treat you as a proper naive international(which is a good thing).Adding up too many reports,results can prove to be disadvantageous in your app. It makes you look like any other desperate student.
My advice: No AP’s for you, SAT i &ii along with TOEFL will dothe trick.

<p>hey! weel the SAT physics test contains chapters covered in class 12, if ur daughter can manage to read through them( u dont need real in depth knowledge for the subject test) she will do just fine if she gives them in May or june(of the year she passes out from the 11th-2013 i guess) for the AP’s you will have to contact the nearest international school that offers them, to register as a private candidate. the AP exam is tougher than the SATII, so she may need some prep for that(esp calculus, which is covered in class 12)</p>

Hence the question, if anybody from the batch of 2014 took the AP’s and felt it helped them get into good schools?</p>
<p>I’d advise your daughter to opt for IB for the 11th and 12th. Its somewhat like AP and she might earn advanced credit as well… If she does well in ib, it will boost her chances of admission at an ivy or universities in the same ballpark.</p>
