I’d take them at Cal if I got in TBH The only class in the CS61 series worth taking at CC is obviously 61B. Almost all transfers don’t have A and C as far as I know.

However, as seen on the Berkeley forum, a number of L&S CS and EECS transfers have heavy schedules in their first semesters with three lab courses (counting CS with programming as lab). This is a very high workload while handling the transition to a new school and new environment.

In addition, having to take the lower division prerequisites first semester of junior year reduces the amount of schedule space available for your upper division courses.

So if you have the opportunity to take the equivalents of CS 61A, 61B, and 61C before transferring to Berkeley L&S CS or EECS, it is a good idea to do so. If you have access to Laney, also consider its Engineering 17, which articulates to Berkeley EE 42 as required by the L&S CS major (EECS requires EE 40 and 20N). Berkeley L&S and EECS also require CS 70, but no community college discrete math course articulates to it (though you may want to take such a course as a preview).

I took COMSC 260 at DVC. It was the only CS class I got a B in. The material is pretty difficult, and the instructor does not help because he is boring (there is only one person at DVC who teaches that class).

Does anyone know the semester in which Laney’s CIS 61 is offered? The scheduled times for the class? I’ve already found DVCs schedules, but not Laneys.
