Do they check whether you are a citizen or not on the common app?
Because I plan to become a US citizen next year and get a name change, but I don't know if I should call myself a citizen on the application. If I don't, my legal name will be different than the name I use for school and SATs.

Any thoughts?

IMO, you should answer questions according to you current status. Most applications have you sign that what you have put on the application is the truth. So, it should be the truth.

You should answer all questions based on your current status. If you need to make a change after you submit your application, you can contact your colleges directly.

That makes sense. Thanks!
