My appointment is tomorrow, that sucks yours is on the 31st. However, you have a TON of different classes you need to take so I’m sure at least one or two will be open, and then you can take other GE classes you’ll probably need once you transfer back to UCD anyway. I’m not sure exactly what math classes you need, but the calculus 1, 2, and 3 courses all have night/afternoon classes and those rarely fill up. The rest of the advanced math classes have those options too, so chances are they’ll stay open till school starts.

Don’t worry about the possibility of CCSF closing. We have no idea what will happen. It is still open for fall and you still have a great chance of getting at least one or two of the classes you need. Be positive. CCSF is a great school with many different classes. You just have to be flexible. I have changed my schedule there the day before classes started and there were definitely many classes still open. You just have to be willing to take different classes at first (you’ll soon get priority to get the exact ones you want) or classes at weird times.

Thank you sooooooooooo much, Shannon! What are your plans should CCSF really close? Good luck to you on your registration tomorrow. I hope you get the classes you want.

You should go to CCSF this week and take the math/english test and bring copes of your transcripts from hs and college to make sure you will be able to register for the math and English classes you want. I didn’t realize I wasn’t approved to take calculus so when I tried to register I wasn’t able to :(. Right now I am taking self paced pre calc online thru UCB so hopefully I’ll be able to go in Monday and show that to them as well as transcripts from high school showing I took algebra and geometry, because these are all prereqs for calc 1. I’m so annoyed, I hope it doesn’t fill up this weekend! You should also double check with a counselor that you don’t have any other holds on your account, you never know and you want to be able to register the second you are able to. Luckily I was able to get 4 online classes I’m interested in.

If CCSF closes I will be mildly annoyed but since I’ve completed over 60 units, GE and all major prereqs I won’t be terribly inconvenienced. I was going to use spring semester to take prereqs for a 2nd major and I’m transferring in the fall.

Annoyinggirl, DON’T even think about Skyline, if you live in the city!

I live in SF and am taking two summer classes at CCSF right now. Getting to Skyline is very painfully and not having a car doesn’t help either.

Here’s a much easier way - go to the East Bay by BART. I took all my English and Chemistry classes at Berkeley City College (26 min on BART, $3.70 one-way), since they were easier to register and I liked the professors better. Besides BCC, there’s also Laney College that is easily accessible by BART.

Btw, I’m transferring to UC Davis this Fall from CCSF (and BCC of course), so ask me any questions about city college and I’d love to help you out.

Shannon13 and ArminVanSF, thank you ohhhh so much!!!

ArminVan, that is a great idea. Did you have a lot of difficulty registering for classes at CCSF? Is that why you attended Berkeley city college?

And congratulations on your admission to UC Davis!

Also, ArminVanSF, do I need to take another bus to get to Berkeley city college after taking the bart, or is it within walking distance from the bart station? I’m so excited now. I’m starting to sense hope again. :)

And thanks for the heads up. You’re right. Skyline would be a pain in the butt to commute to. It would take 2 hours one way on a good day. Ouch. That’s a lot of lost study time.

Bcc is like half a block from Bart.

I had a more difficult time getting classes at bcc btw. They don’t offer many classes anyway so you may have to go elsewhere for some of your prereqs.

To answer your question, whichever one is closer and whichever one has more pre-reqs that you need for transfer. that’s ALL it comes down to. pre-reqs.

Annoyinggirl, you just walk about two minutes from a Bart station to BCC.

When it comes to pre-reqs, obviously both colleges have different policies. For example, you have to take a Chemistry placement test at CCSF and there’s no such a thing at BCC. Plus I remember it was much easier to get an add-on code after a class was full at BCC compare to CCSF.

This summer semester I showed up only on the second day of my classes that were already full (couldn’t register online anymore) but was added into a waiting list by both of my professors. The right next day I had add-on codes to both of my classes. So it’s easy to get into a class at CCSF as well imho.

Thanks for the heads up, Shannon. Just wondering, which classes did you have trouble registering for at Berkeley City College?

And thanks ArminVan, it’s great to know that I have Berkeley city college as another option. Maybe I’ll enroll in both at the same time, depending on if I can register for classes. Is there a Math placement test at Berkeley city college?

Yes, there’s a placement test in Math, which I think you should take before the Fall semester starts.

Here’s some info & a schedule:
[Assessment & Orientation : BCC Student Services and Programs](http://www.berkeleycitycollege.edu/wp/student_service_programs/assessment-orientation/)

By the way, one cool thing about Peralta colleges - you can get an AC Transit EasyPass bus pass for a whole semester for only $36, if you’re taking 9 or more units. So you can take MUNI to the Transbay Temporary Terminal in SF and get on an AC Transit bus to Berkeley.

I just had trouble registering for ones that I wanted, which was a pretty wide range, because BCC barely has any options to choose from. I just wanted some basic humanities/social science classes in addition to GE classes and they had very few to choose from and most were full. They also didn’t have wait lists the semester I was there but I believe they added wait lists for “select” classes later.

Cool, ArminVanSF, where can I get the EasyPass bus pass? And is it for only one semester? Or can I get it for the following semesters as well? Thanks.

^^^ I haven’t been at BCC in two years so not really sure now. Here’s a link where you can check with them:

Yes, you can get the pass as long as you are a full-time student.
