I am a senior in high school, and i was recently accepted into CSULB. However, I have always wanted to go to a UC, and the only way i could get into one now, would be to go to a Community College and then try to transfer later. I am not sure, about this option, due to i don't know what the best route is today when going to college, with the tuition rises and the overcrowding of city colleges and CSU's. I did not apply to a UC out of high school because my grades weren't bad, but not UC Material. I have a 3.3 University GPA on my transcripts. So i decided to just apply to CSU's instead. My question is, would it be better for me to just go to CSULB from the get go, or would it be better for me to go to a local community college (LBCC or Cerritos College), and then have the oppurtunity to transfer to a UC afterwards (UC Irvine, UCLA, UC Riverside to be specific)? Is it even worth trying to go to a UC? And also, say if i wasn't accepted into a UC out of community college, i could still apply to a CSU, and save alot of money i hear, since you are doing the same thing (completing you General ED Classes) the first few years of college anyway. Please answer, if you can. thanks!
