I am going to be a senior soon and I have no idea how I will fill my FAFSA form because of my complicated situation. I came to the United States in 97 but a couple of years ago, my birth parents abandoned me so I was then adopted by my aunt and uncle who are American citizens. I am still waiting for my greencard(sister says i should get it within a couple of months) and i have a social security number. my sister tells me that i should apply as a US Citizen for financial aid because I will eventually get it but the problem is that I dont know if I will be able to get financial aid because i am not a us citizen yet. my sister says i should be able to because my adopted parents both pay taxes and are american citizens. is anyone knowledgeable in this?

To get US aid, you don't need to be a citizen; you need to be a permanent resident (green card). Therefore, if that green card goes through in the next few months as you anticipate, then by the time you apply for aid, you will apply as a permanent resident (not citizen yet) and be eligible for the same aid a citizen gets.
