Civil eng in Purdue or VT or USC or Duke

I am a prospective UG student applying for civil engineering course. Out of- Purdue, Duke, Virginia Tech, USC, Which one do I apply and do ED, maybe? Suggest a choice rank? And new uni suggestion is welcomed?

You started several threads, all with the same questions.

YET…you provided NO information…so what advice are you expecting??

Are you a citizen or international?

Will your parents pay all costs for Purdue or VT? Will they pay whatever USC and Duke say that they should pay?

What are your stats?

I don’t know about the others but Purdue does not have ED. They have Early Action which is necessary to be considered for the merit scholarships.

I don’t think the other schools you’re considering are quite in Duke’s league even as far as engineering is concerned.

Kualakoala: by what standard do you make that statement? Using US News rankings Purdue is 9th overall in Engineering, VT 15th and Duke 18th. I would say any of the programs the OP mentioned would be tremendous programs.

When you say USC, are you talking about the University of Southern California or the University of South Carolina?

There won’t be huge differences between accredited engineering programs. Often it’s the state universities that have the strongest engineering programs.

Where are you hoping to live? Engineering is one of those majors where many firms like to hire locally for new hires (meaning within a state or two). Where I live, Virginia Tech (or Penn State) would be highly favored. If international, any of those degrees should command respect.

Sorry, I am a first timer.

So I am International Freshman applying.
I would want to know whether to do ED in VT or not. But don’t consider or ask scores etc.
Many of my first choice like UIUC, U Mish, Berkley doesn’t have ED. But i don’t have good SAT.
So, i thought of doing ED VT. (VT, Purdue, University of Southern California, Duke out of my possible high reach)
But, as VT is not in SC. I would like to know whether if i do ED in VT, then pay 400$ by 15 Jan. And then would other Common App, And other Application process go on. And would i get to know If i got in the uni??

Help Please

?

You don’t want to provide scores.

you don’t have a good SAT

I hope that your family is willing to pay ALL costs, otherwise none will work.

If VT has ED, then it would let you know in Dec. If you get accepted and your parents will pay, then deposit. Then you will not be submitting any more apps.

If you’re an International without English as your first language, you might get a little bit of a pass on the Reading and Writing sections of the SAT. However, if your math score isn’t decently high (esp on SAT Math2), I’d caution against even trying engineering.

My scores in Maths is 710*
I gave the recent SAT. Hoping 600* or up in both CR and W.

Is DUKE eng. Program good?

Any of the four you listed will be fine to be honest.

CMU or DUKE? for civil engineering. ED??

SAT is okay-ish 1900-2000* types.
Will Give SAT2 Maths 2 Physics . Hopeful of scoring 700+ And And, IB predicted 37/45
