Does anyone know the reputation of civil engineering at SDSU? My son has been accepted to Civil at SDSU and Construction Mgmt at SLO and struggling with which offer to accept. Thanks.

rickross… Thanks for asking this question. Sorry, I can’t help you with an answer. I’m curious to know that re: civil engineering at SDSU as my son was accepted too. More about the program and reputation would be great from anyone that has experience there.

rickross92519 SLO is known for their Construction Management program as well as their engineering school; two different majors. Construction Management is either going to be involved in commercial or residential building where civil can take you many places. Son applied only at SLO and SDSU in CE and was accepted to SDSU and still waiting on SLO. SLO would probably be his first choice but both good. I would find out what your son leans more toward to make your decision on majors.

@Ralphy4040 Thanks for your input, my son is leaning toward SLO, but we are waiting for the SDSU open house in a few weeks to make a final decision.

So far my son has been accepted to SDSU and CSULB for civil engineering. We’re still waiting to hear from other schools also. We are attending the open house at SDSU but I’m curious if anyone has information regarding both of these schools with the civil engineering major. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

SDSU has come across my radar recently - favorably, especially regarding internship opportunities and cost! Consider carefully the job opportunities of construction management vs. civil engineering. Engineering will qualify him for construction management jobs, so he can follow that path if he wants to, but it also gives him many other opportunities as well, for other jobs, licensure, graduate school, etc.
