SJSU or SDSU for Engineering?

I am looking for a few backup schools for civil engineering. I'm going to apply to Cal Poly SLO, Pomona, and Cal state Long Beach, but I'm looking for a forth school to apply to in the Cal State System. It looks like I have brought my decision down to San Jose State and San Diego State. Out of those two, which one has a better reputation for Civil Engineering, or just engineering in general? I'm kind of confused, as I'm getting mixed reviews for both campuses. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

SDSU will be as selective as SLO. Please apply but, don’t think it as a backup.
In-state non-local aplicants need a CSU Index of 4100+
[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - Eligibility Index](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>GPA Calculator | CSU)
Look here for details on how to calculate your Index

CSULB you’ll need 3800, Pomona, probably around 3700. Chico is about 3600. SJSU varies significantly by major I think it’s 3300 for Civil Engineering. You can search their web-site for this year’s threshold my major.

See where you stand with your index and post back if you want more specific recomendations.
Go to CSUMenotor.edu
Apply to a bunch, see who

My CSU Index is close to 4600. Is there really any reason why SDSU would have such a high index for engineering, even though the Cal Poly’s are a lot better for engineering? (Not saying that SDSU is bad or anything)…

Great Work! You are a shoe in for any CSU.

Supply and demand…
SDSU has 52k applicants and accepted 16k.
Cal Poly had 40k applicants and accepted 14k.

Could be the pretty girls and warmer water…
