If I don't get off of the waiting list this year, I'll be headed down to Marion for a year of prep. I was looking at their online site and and found the list of things to bring with you when you go down. I noticed that there was no place on there about boots/shoes and uniforms. Do I have to go and get the measurements for the uniforms and do I have to go get the boots, or will all of this be down when I head down there? Also, is there anything that's not on that list that I should bring with me?

You uniforms and shoes should be issued to you. At least they were at NMMI.

Marion will issue all your shoes, boots and uniforms the day you report as part of its in-processing procedure. You will also get a packing list about a month before you go. Don't worry about a long list of things to get, the list is extremely short and as I recall consists primarily of underwear and socks. The only thing you might want to buy now is running shoes so you can have them broken in before you report. One thing that is not on the list, but will make your stay in Marion more enjoyable is a good attitude. The faculty there is top notch and they will help prepare you for West Point. The other AOG sponsored cadets are great and will be your friends when you report for R Day in 2008.

By the way, all of the AOG cadets at Marion (somewhere between 20 and 22) got into West Point and the class of 2011 and almost all received their appointments in February. Remember that Marion is not West Point. It is, however, one way to West Point. Good luck!

buy acu boots, they didnt issue those at marion and they are 10 times better than the leather ones

not sure if you will be in acu's next year or not but either way they were nice to have this year
