Does anyone have a photo of the floor plan for Clara Dickson (especially the 5-5 wing)? Or can someone tell me where to find one. My daughter is assigned to Clara Dickson single and we are having fun tentatively planning her room decor. Any help/input would be appreciated! Are the ceilings slanted? Do they have wardrobes or closets on the 5th floor single rooms? Would a comfy chair fit in a single room? Thank you!
The rooms on the 5th floor are smaller than others in that most of them have slanted ceilings due to the dormers. Rooms in CDH are not all uniform in size but I was told that the average room on the 5th floor is 109 sq. ft. with a window against the back wall across from the door, and a closet behind the door that is about 12 sq. ft. There absolutely would not be room for a comfy chair unless she has one of the non-dormered rooms in the center hall. There will be little space to add anything but a micro fridge and a small bookcase that would fit on the dresser which I am told is about 30 x 30. I was also told that with the dormers, the bed cannot be lofted and can only be minimally raised to utilize space under the bed. Have fun planning. Even though the space is small, it will be al hers which is a big bonus!
One of my friends requested a floor plan, but she was told that the university won’t give out floor plans for security reasons which makes sense. I was also told that my room on the 5th floor was about 9x12 with a 12 sq. ft. closet. It doesn’t appear that the rooms are uniform so there is some guess work involved in what your daughter’s room might be like based upon whether or not she is assigned to a room with a dormer and slanted ceiling.
The interior rooms don’t have slanted ceilings (but these are mostly picked by upperclassmen), the outside rooms do have dormers and slanted ceilings.
aburg: No worries. I think I already saw those. However the one link you posted from ZK blog is new to us. Thank you so much.
preppedparent: Thank you. Upperclassmen? I thought Clara Dickson was for freshmen (minus the RAs who would live there, of course.)
It may be. In my day the top floor was the Living Learning Center and all 4 years shared the unit. Those were the days of Primal Scream.
