Today, I received this email:

Dear Applicant,

Congratulations! You've been chosen to participate in an important study being conducted by the Kravis Leadership Institute at Claremont McKenna College (CMC). Your participation in this study will provide information that will help to examine the developmental impact of the college experience and may shape the curriculum at CMC.

However, in the past, I've received the following email TWICE:

Does this mean acceptance, as the "CONGRATULATIONS!" sounds positive... no?

Or did everyone receive this email?

I got it, too. But I didn't receive an admissions decisions in the mail today. So I'm waiting for the 5:00 online decision.

I really hope it means an acceptance, otherwise it is really, really mean to send that out today. When I read that "Congratulations!" I was elated.

for the record: any email coming from the college that you are applying to 2 hours prior to notification that begins with "Dear Applicant, Congratulations" is most definitely not cool. im pretty ****ed

and by the way, when it says this: "Rest assured that your responses will be held strictly confidential by the principal researcher and will not in any way impact your status with CMC." i assume they mean that it means nothing

It's really, really rude.

Oh well--the question that must be answered is:

Did anyone receive this email and get rejected/waitlisted?

I did, and I was waitlisted.

Okay, they're officially jerks.

I got this email but this was months ago and other people got it too...you seem to have gotten a slightly different one ?

"Dear CMC applicant,

I would greatly appreciate your participation in an interesting and important study being conducted by the Kravis Leadership Institute at Claremont McKenna College (CMC). This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a study designed to examine the developmental impact of the college experience. The purpose of this study is to collect information that will help evaluate and develop the curriculum and other educational experiences at CMC. Therefore, please take your time and answer each question. By participating in this study, you will be entered into a drawing to win an Apple iPod nano. All you have to do is log-on and complete the survey at:xxx

Your participation in this study is completely voluntary and you may cease participation at any time. YOUR RESPONSES WILL NOT IMPACT YOUR CMC APPLICATION STATUS. Your responses will be held strictly confidential by the principal researcher. The CMC Admission Office and the CMC Admission Committee will NOT have access to your responses."

haha yeah my heart stopped for a second when i saw the congratulations

im with all of you on this one ... bad timing to say the least

...better question: did anyone get it who WAS accepted

This is the third time I've gotten an e-mail about that survey. I agree with the bad timing. No admissions decision yet, but at this point I'm kind of expecting a rejection/wait list.

I got it and I was wait-listed. That's kind of horrible timing. :(

I also got it and was waitlisted. But I'm not really bummed, at least I wasn't flat out rejected!!! That really stinks for those of you who are, seriously, good luck to wherever you end up!

I got it and was rejected.

Seems like I was the only one who got it and was accepted...

I got it, and I was wait-listed.
