As I have been accepted to my top 2 schools, William & Mary and CMC, I've been awfully confused about which one to chose. They're both great academically, but I'm just not sure which one is better for what I'm doing (accounting) or simply a better fit for me. One concern I have about CMC is its size, which is smaller than my current high school. I know the consortium lessens that problem a bit, but still, I don't like the idea of everyone hearing about every little thing I do, if that makes sense. I also live in VA, so W&M is a whole lot closer and more convenient, although not necessarily cheaper (CMC offered me great aid, haven't heard back from W&M yet). I love Cali & the sunshine & and the weather there, but knowing that I could really go to college all the way across the country seems a bit scary! Another concern is that even though CMC has a great reputation among those who know it, everyone I mention the school to has never heard of it. I guess I just need some extra opinions, considering both schools have their ups and downs. I feel like having been accepted to CMC gives me such a great opportunity, and from what I've heard, it's an amazing school, so I don't want to make a bad decision.

Congrats on two great choices!. You really cant go wrong. I am biased to W&M, but Claremont is very similar in all the good ways. W&M has better sports and larger. But not much rain in So Cal. Dont forget adding in travel costs and LA living expense when comparing costs.

Great problem to have. Good luck.

W&M’s accounting programs are very highly regarded among schools of its size, and were ranked first in their classification by a survey of professors of accounting in 2009 and 2010 : [William & Mary School of Business - Accounting Programs Ranked #1 ? again](http://mason.wm.edu/news/2011/par_ranking21jan11.php)

CMC has a great reputation for undergrad education, as does W&M. Their finaid offer must have been huge if it’s competitive with instate costs for W&M. As swish14 says, you should consider travel costs to CA when you’re considering total COA.

I don’t think you need to worry about having no privacy at a small school like CMC. At W&M, which is mid-sized, the student body is large and diverse enough to afford you your own space, but college isn’t like high school, even on the smallest campuses (thankfully). Congrats on having such a great choice, and best of luck!

Visit both. Then you will know.

We couldn’t agree with the other posters more. You have two wonderful choices. Visiting both is great advice if at all possible and you should contact Financial Aid to see if they are still waiting on any information from you to provide you an aid package and when they might be able to email you your award decision so that you have all the information in front of you.

Only you can decide if CMC is too far away for you although remember, few students on either campus go home outside of school breaks. W&M is bigger which likely comes with some pluses and minuses (larger more diverse population, more student organizations, bigger sports vs larger class sizes and higher student-to-faculty ratio). We are usually the smallest school students are considering rather than the largest so it’s an interesting comparison.

Just listen to your gut, talk to parents, teachers and counselors and know that you cannot make a wrong choice.

Thank you so much everyone, I have visited W&M twice and will be visiting CMC for the second time on Friday. All of your responses have been very helpful :]

Our guess is you’ll know after your second visit to CMC. If you’re still up in the air, plot out any remaining questions you have and then post them here or contact the appropriate offices on each campus next Monday so that you have all the information in front of you before making a decision.
