claremont mckenna with a 1910?

can i get in with a 1910 on sat and average of 650 on subject tests?

You can get an idea by looking at the Common Data Set for Claremont and seeing what scores the admitted students have. Here is the link, look on page 9 for the SAT information:

http://www.claremontmckenna.edu/registrar/IR/CDS2007_2008.pdf

Though it's not impossible to get into CMC with those stats, you should probably pick up both your SAT and subject test scores if you want a decent chance of getting accepted. You'll probably want a good GPA, too.

I'd suggest to shoot for a 2000+ to have a greater chance of getting admitted. with the admissions rate now 19%, even if you had terrific everything else, a 1910 might slip you out of contention, or most likely cause you to be waitlisted/rejected instead of accepted. If the SAT is not your forte, then I'd strongly suggest to try the ACT. Many people do substantially better on that. Good luck

Can you? Yes.
Will you? Most likely no.

Here is an example of the stats you should have if you are looking for a good chance of being admitted to CMC. You don't necessarily need stats like these, but this is a good example.

GPA: +94/100
SAT: +2100
Subject Tests: 720+
ECs: very strong involvement with some leadership
Recs: very good
Essays: excellent writing and very personal that shows uniqueness

To clarify, you don't need to submit SAT subject tests for submission

One of my friends applied with a 27/28 on the ACT which is low for CMC and was waitlisted. I think CMC considers fit, but the academic piece needs to be there too so you probably need 2050+ and 30+.

To give you some hope: I got a 1980 on my SATs and was accepted to CMC. I agree with the suggestion above mine to take the ACTs. Instead of sending in my SATs, I sent in my ACT score of a 33. However, please know that CMC cares more about leadership activities than test scores. They have turned away students with a 2400 SAT score due to a lack of leadership roles. Good luck! :-)

It really depends what else you have done. Very few scores will DISqualify you. However, you need to have something to make up for your scores. For example, I know one McKenna scholar who had a 29 ACT and a 1100/1600 SAT. She started a charity when she was 13 to raise money for AIDS victims, which made up for her poor scores.

As far as SAT IIs, they don't matter. You don't have to send them in. And if you're still worried about them because they're sent in with your SAT scores, take my example. I had a 660 average when they made McKenna scholar decisions, and I was chosen as a finalist off of that info. So don't fret over poor SAT IIs.

I really don't know. I got alternate listed(waitlisted) with 2250... and 770+ on SAT IIs...and i don't suck at essay writing either. so its really anyones guess.

Sorry for your being waitlisted, Elysium49, I hope you end up getting in! and for the topic starter, let me share that I was admitted with a 2230 and 780/690 SAT IIs. let the fact that Elysium was waitlisted illustrate the point that college admissions are really not very predictable at all. so don't sweat it too much - just do your best on the app, do your best in your senior year (i'm assuming you're a junior?), and leave it to the admissions office.

AND...definitely go to the interview..no matter what. I think that it's extremely important just to go...if only to show how interested you are(that's becoming more and more important each year). I couldn't make it to L.A.....and I regret not going.

don't be discouraged! it is possible. i got in with a 1900something and a 31 act which i didn't even officially sent the transcript, i self-reported it. if you show that you have a passion for an activity and your essays are creative and really good, then you have a chance. really concentrate on your essays!

oh, and i didn't have an interview. my region didn't offer any interviews and i couldn't go to the campus for the interview.

interesting that cmc overadmits female first-years, who then underenroll.
