Clarification - the "NIF" form

Hello my fellow CCers!

I had posted this question at the end of another thread, but that may not have been the right place for it, so I'm asking this question again

Can someone help me with what the NIF form looks like and what questions it has in it??

I am an admitted student at Cal, but I am NOT an international student (my situation is a little bit unique). However, Berkeley says I need to fill out this form called the NIF (non-immigrant information form).

I am a community college transfer student, and am married to a US citizen (we've been married for over 12 years and lived and worked in california all that time). Due to some minor complications in our immigration case for my green card, it is still pending (yes, after all these years), but the USCIS has always renewed my work authorization and my case is officially "pending" which makes me eligible for CA resident tuition, but not financial aid.

Berkeley says even if one's application for permanent residency is pending, they still need to fill out this NIF. That's why I wanted to know what this form is all about and why I need to fill it. I'm unable to access this form for a few days it seems, until my info is updated in their system and so if someone can give me some peace of mind as to why I'm being asked to fill this form, I'd really appreciate it.

Also, I don't need ANY ASSISTANCE from Berkeley regarding any visa issues. I'm LEGALLY authorized to live and work in the U.S. by virtue of my pending "adjustment of status" case based on my wife being a U.S. citizen.

Thank You very much for your responses!!
