CLARIFICATIONS NEEDED! RE: Transfer credits and Economics major.

Hi, my credits transfer was recently updated on my unofficial transcript (shown right below).
I am currently undeclared, admitted to College of Social Science, and I am planning to take Economics as my major.
However, I am in a special situation, as having taken Economics and Mathematics as my GCE A-Level subjects, I got ECON 200, ECON 201, MATH 124, Math 125 credits transferred (NON-GRADED, PURELY CR). From what I've gathered from the economics department, the admission requirement requires me to have min cumulative GPA of 2.50 for four of the six courses (4 of them being the ones I have listed above, the other 2 are STAT and MATH 126), however I've already completed 4 of the courses and they are non-graded transfer courses! If there is a possibility of them using my A-level results for GPA calculation, I would be scoring a 2.15 GPA for the four courses! (I doubt this possibility though as they can't possibly do this when I was informed that my GPA would be disregarded for transfer, putting me in a disadvantage) What can I do about this? Anyone care to explain and clarify? Thanks!!!

There are really only two scenarios here.

1) They take into account your transfer GOA, in which case you need to do well enough in the remaining 2 courses such that the cumulative GPA of 4 of the 6 courses is > 2.50. Or you’ll have to retake a course or two.

2) They ignore your transfer GPA, in which case they’ll probably just use the remaining two courses and/or they will ask you to retake a course or two so they can have four courses to consider.

Realistically, you should just do really well in whatever courses you have left for that requirement. You should probably also contact an Econ undergraduate advisor and figure out which scenario is going to happen.

Thanks sumzup! I got an answer from the department: A-level credits will not be ‘weighted’ when considered for the Department of Economics application. You may just input “A-level” for ECON 200, ECON 201, and MATH 124, thus making your “Prerequisite GPA” dependent of one factor – STAT 311. There is no need to retake ECON 200, ECON 201, or MATH 124…which is your scenario 2…fortunately. This means I will have to try my very best for this only prerequisite course and hopefully get in!
