DS is interested in both of these schools and we will be visiting the area Oct 19-21. Both schools have an open house on Saturday, 10/20. Would it be possible to do both open houses in one day, does anyone know (schools are 10 min apart I believe) or should we do the open house for whichever DS seems to like better, and tour the other school on Friday?
We’ve done plenty of college traditional visits but never an open house day. It seems like the Open Houses have more info so it seems slightly preferable. Opinions welcome. Thanks!
I think you can do both. The only risk is that if you really like the school you do first you might not want to leave to go to the other school. That’s fine too and you could go back to that school another time.
Open houses often have more swag like chapstick and stress squeeze balls of the school mascot. Those are important.
I’d try to get the schedule of events for both open houses (if it isn’t online ask admissions) – that will help you to see if you can do both schools on the same day or if important events overlap. If doing both schools in a day doesn’t work see if you can schedule a regular information session/tour at one school for next day. FWIW with one exception we preferred the regular tour/information sessions to open houses as the schools were far less crowded with HS students.
I think you can do both. We did an open house at Holy Cross but didn’t need to be there the entire time. Look at the agendas and figure out what you want to do at both and then go from there.
I just wanted to post for anyone reading this that somehow I was totally wrong! There is no Holy Cross open house on Oct 20 same day as Clark’s. Sorry for the false alarm everyone and thank you!
