is clark kerr the best dorm? is it easier to make friends? or is it anti-social as i have heard?

clark kerr has alot of beautiful people, a lot of athletes. in berkeley, you can make friends WHEREVER you live if you have some balls and be social.

i heard clark kerr is anti social though? is this true? I dont want a weirdo for a roommate and i know berkeley attracts a lot of the weirdo/azn/hippie types. I would really like to avoid some of them as roommate possibilities (mostly the weirdos/herbs/hippie kids)! What dorms would you suggest for someone like me?

dood, roommate assignments are random, there's no typecast in the dorms. And hell, it's berkeley, be bohemian, don't be afraid of meeting different people, they might just change your life and viewpoint.
for the record, i love weirdos and hippie kids, i wish i could be more of one.

and you can't avoid asians @ berkeley.....it's berkeley.

then how are there more beautiful/athletic people at clark kerr? lol.. luck?

there's alot of athletes there (because the athletic department likes to put them there) and so that has a lot to do with it. lots of swimmers and so forth, so you see a lot of attractive people hanging thereabouts. and luck. most people in the dorms are freshmen remember, so most people choose their preferences along the old stereotypes of each dorm, and while not everyone gets their first choice, it ends up the way it seems to end up.

My friend was in CK and she loved living there. She's really outgoing and politically active and independent. I think it's what you make of it. If you're fun, you will have a fun time and people will gravitate around you. If you expect fun to come to you and you just be sitting there, like you're watching some movie forget it. It wouldn't matter what dorm you got or where.

swimmer guys stay in westmister and swimmer girls stay in unit 3
water polo guys and girls stay in unit 3.

most of the other sports stay in clark kerr

my bad ^^^ swimmers are attractive though. hence my association with clark kerr ;)

how are the doubles in suites at the clark kerr campus? i've been assigned to it and don't know if its really worth the extra price tag? anybody have previous experience or has seen them?

avet, was that your first choice? if not, what choice was it?

double suites at CK are great! Very spacious. Probably worth the extra money. Also, from what I saw through my child/student, there is plenty of socializing going on at CK. Berkeley is whatever you make of it! Like attracts like... friendly social people attract more friendly social people. Look outside on a sunny day and the lawn will be covered with students out socializing and enjoying the sun.

does clark kerr have a gym?

I lived in CKC last year.

Clark Kerr is a really nice campus. The rooms are pretty big.

As far as the "anti-social" question-- I'll preface my answer by stating what some others have said. It's up to you, if you are willing to put forth the effort to meet people, then the friends will come. Though, I don't know where the "Clark Kerr is anti-social" stereotype came from...that story is usually reserved for Foothill.

That said, each building in CKC has its own personality. Some buildings have a lot of athletes, and a lot of parties as a result. There are a few which are designated "24 Hour Quiet Buildings." I lived in one, but it really wasn't all that quiet, and everyone was really friendly (but it definitely wasn't anything like the aforementioned party buildings.) If you marked "primarily quiet environment" on the housing survey, you'll be put in one of those quiet buildings probably.

Clark Kerr doesn't have a gym. One of the buildings has some older exercise equipment in the basement. There is a swimming pool behind Clark Kerr though, and a couple tennis courts. There is a gym for gymnasts, but nothing like RSF.

Ok, this is something that has been bugging me for a long time, and i would like people in who dormed to answer with their experiences.

I know that some people dont sleep early (like after 11). So lets say i try to sleep like 11:30, will it be noisy as hell? cuz i know people walk around the halls and u could prolly hear them talking all loud and stuff. What is your experience on this? if i check "social environment" on the housing app, will i not be able to sleep around 11? also, will i not be able to study in my room quietly?

also, how long of a walk will it be to the nearest gym and do they charge or is it included in the bill of housing? lol thanks in advanced for answering

^^^ solution.. get ear plugs

Clark Kerr anti-social? Are you sure they weren't talking about Foothill?

sorry for the late response, but yeah it was my first choice and i got it surprisingly and the roomate i requested also got it so im guessing we'll end up dorming together

bump! no one directly answered my question and ear plugs often times do not block all sounds.

fine then, dont answer my questions!
