Clark Scholars 2012

Sorry, I was just wondering if anyone knew someone who got accepted or something… so nervous lol

anyone still waiting?

yeah, so nervous XD probably have 0 chance, but one can wish. waiting on SUMAC as well o.o

I’m still waiting too.

Also, as far as comments above about weeding out the weakest first or going by alphabet: my first guess would be that they’re going by subject area. Like they look at the biology related spots then decide, then they look at the mathematics spots and decide ect.

I’d be more interested in learning what the rejected people had has their topics of interest, if any of them are still around.

I think @Lonely might have a good idea… But as April is moving on I’d guess that decisions will be out within the next week…: hopefully!

i can help with that. my essay actually reference “Boyd Butler” and my interest in his work, but I guess that wasn’t attractive.

anyways, my research interest was really specific, since I put down the research that I am currently performing and planning to perform in the lab. Cellular and Molecular Biology.

@truehype that’s interesting, b/c I put my interest as bioengineering, which is more or less the same as your subject area since they don’t seem have a separate category for it. Yet you saw you got rejected already? I’m sure my app is probably weaker than yours though, seeing how you got into SIMR…don’t know what to think ._.

@gmarch89 , don’t get your hopes down like that. when i say specific, i meant it was really specific. my two research questions were: 1. Identification of ___ as a Colonic Substrate for ____ In vivo and 2. In vitro and in vivo analysis of functional and structural impacts of ___ in _____ associated with _____
as you can see, i narrowed it down tremendously and they probably couldn’t match me

… i didn’t apply to SIMR ROFL

I know I’m late on all of this business, but if we haven’t received anything yet, can we expect to in the next week? I need to know PRONTO. Thanks!

My topics of interest were 1. Other (exercise science) and 2. Theatre Arts. It appears that nobody has ever researched those topics, so it may be that they just don’t have the faculty. When I apply next year, I may use exercise physiology as my topic since people have studied physiology before.

My essay was on a personal incident that got me interested in fitness.

Am I one of the supposed “trolls”? Lol, I suppose my lack of posts is suspicious. :-P

whoops, sorry, truehype, there’s a guy named realhype on the simr thread ._.

@redditor no one really knows, they said mid april, so it should be either this week or next, but no definite date provided.

Well. Good luck to everyone on another week of admissions. I honestly doubt all decisions will be out by the end of this week, and even by the end of next week. Last year, some rejections were sent out as late as May. Regardless, good luck (:

Decision: utter rejection. My last name starts with a “w.” My areas of interest were economics and political science (surprised they didn’t send the email sooner…). Good luck to the rest of you. Hopefully this will shed some light on the process, but it probably won’t.

The summer 2013 application is already up on the clark scholars website lol

Approximately 10 minutes ago, I got a phone call from Dr. San Francisco :o…he said I’d made the top 36 out of ~300 applicants and was checking to see if I was still interested. He said results would be likely out by next week and they’re just looking to find appropriate mentors now.

I ■■■■■ you folks not.

At 10:00 PM? If he gave out 36 phone calls he’d be calling people on the East Coast at midnight!

mathnerd1: have you ever done any research before?

Wow I’m freaking out. I’m assuming all of us who didn’t get calls are not among the 36?

hi everyone,
i just want to know; is anyone here going to be going to ISEF in pittsburgh this year? (: it’d be great to know all of you before the competition starts!
