Clark Scholars 2015

depends on the quality of the research project

I’m not part of any program, but I’ve been working in the Nadeau lab for the past year and a half (so my backup is to just continue working there). I was planning on working on a project with a new postdoc on a new experimental method for gene knockout (going to working primarily with T cells/B cells)

Would you mind sharing how you got a research position in a lab? I feel like since I’m in in the midwest, it’s harder for me to find one. Did you guys have to sign up or did you email the professors or something else? I really want to devote my summer to doing research!

@bouvardia I’m in the Midwest too, I feel your struggle!

i want to be put out of my misery :frowning:

Same… Just send me my rejection already

Just got my rejection

gg everybody

Same @literatechild :frowning:

Am i the only one that hasn’t gotten anything looooool
do you think I should email them?

@tobukoro Honestly they’re probably flooded w/ emails, so I’d wait a day or two more?

what do everyone else’s rejection letters look like?

unlike @Hotmamanearyou, mine doesn’t even say anything about a first or second cut:
"Dear Clark Scholar Applicant,

Thank you very much for your application to the 2015 Clark Scholars Program at Texas Tech University. We had approximately 350 very competitive applications from around the nation and globe. Each application was reviewed at least twice and some were reviewed three times. Fifteen faculty participated in the review process that lasted over three weeks.

It is so very difficult to not be able to offer you a spot this year and I congratulate you for your accomplishments thus far. There is no doubt in my mind that our world is in good hands with you as a future leader in your field.

Best wishes in your future endeavors.

Sincerely,
Michael San Francisco"

@harvardw15hful Mine looks the same as yours

Hey you guys! I’m currently a Junior interested in applying to the Clark Scholars program for Summer 2016. I had several questions about the application (which will be released for Summer 2016 in December). On the application, in addition to test scores, essays, and grades, did you have to include extracurriculars and teacher recommendations?

@fairyfantasy Hi, I recently just found out about this program, and I am so glad to see so many people talking about it. I went on to the website, but I didn’t really find enough specific information, such as the time of this program. I only knew that it would last for seven weeks, but is it a fixed time every year (ie. from July 1st to August 20th)? Or do they post the time later on when you get accepted? Thank you so much!

@mochilate1897 I found out a previous application form of 2009 on line.https://www.springbranchisd.com/upload/TTUClark.pdf
You do have to include ECs and teacher recommendations:)
I am applying this year too!!!

how strict is this program about about age? My son will be 17 in January of 2017 only.

If you have mediocre test scores (ACT between 29 and 33, will not specify) and only a few extracurricular activites that you have invested tons of time in (a collective value of over 1000 hours) and everything else is absolutely fantastic or almost perfect (recommendations and perfect scores in all STEM subjects on transcript, ~3.9/4.0 GPA, etc), and you have prior research experience, do you have a chance of getting in? I’m seriously worried about my mediocre ACT getting me declined :l

^ bump on srk2017’s post on age. I am going to turn 17 literally 3 weeks after the program begins, and I’m wondering how strict they are on age

ok this is a dumb question, but on the app posted for clark scholars, im unable to get rid of the commas when typing in phone numbers, test scores, etc on the pdf. Anyone know how to fix this problem?
