S and I visited and toured UConn yesterday. The school itself is nice but the town… No bars or clubs for the kids to hangout? What do kids do Thursday-Saturday nights? Concerned about S going to UConn when his brother attends University of Southern California and we are from Miami. S loves sports and got in to Honors and Sports Managemenr program. Will my S be ok in Storrs/UConn? I would appreciate input. Thank you
For partying purposes there are 3 bars that are on campus/ within a few feet of campus. Tons of off campus parties. Tailgating at football games or going to basketball and soccer games on campus are a lot of fun and many students make them into parties. There’s also an on campus movie theater. Concerts on campus. Multiple venues on campus for speakers, comedians, and other performances. The student union hosts events each weekend that are alternatives to partying. There are events in Hartford that are about 30 minutes away. The school schedules trips to visit Boston and new York as well as you can go there on your own via bus. I think the school schedules ski/ snow board trips or you can organize those on your own. Etc.
@belink everything sportsman5 says is right on the $…While there is tons to do at UCONN it may not be what certain people want to do….truth is a city kid would probably not love it at UCONN. 2 friends of my daughter are at U of Miami…all I see are pics of parties by pools or on the beach…or scenes in nightclubs. Another friend of my daughter loves being in NYC (we are from NJ) she only applied to schools in Boston, NYC and DC.
