Class advice before school starts. Pls.

So I'm entering Sophomore year now, and my dream is Harvard and Princeton. I had all honors freshman year and was first in my school to take Chemistry honors as a freshman. I'm also Haitian-American. I also do many clubs of my interest w/ club positions and volunteer work over this summer of my interest. NOW to my class of this year that I'm sort of afraid of... Lol :
1) AP Biology
2) English 10 Honors
3) Algebra II & Trigonometry
4) Spanish III Honors
5) AP World History
6) AP Physiology
And other electives And gym.
*it's my first year that I'm taking AP classes. Any studying advice? Tips of surviving these classes? AP exams? Anything!! I'm going to give it my all, cause I really love those two schools! Thanks :).

AP Biology = lots of memorization and slightly time consuming, depending on your teacher.
AP Test (Biology) = 100 Multiple Choice questions and 4 Essays. Easy peasy, right? No, really. It’s not that stressful or horrendously difficult.

Wow, really? Thanks Alot! Anyone else? I’m openminded :)

Make sure you know what kind of tests and homework your algebra teacher gives before you get to the class. My AlgII teacher last year gave a good amount of homework, but the tests were much harder and longer than the homework. She usually did curve the tests a bit, but still most people got Bs or Cs.

For math and bio (but more so for math), if you don’t understand something in class immediately, go to Khan Academy as soon as possible and watch a few videos. If I had known about this last year it would have helped so much.

For English: READ THE BOOK! lol xD It’s obvious, but a lot of students don’t do well on tests because they don’t bother reading the book and go on sparknotes. Sparknotes should only be used if you don’t understand something that happened (and even then, your first instinct should be to ask the teacher. He/She will be making the test. ) Also, pay attention to grammar rules since it would be pretty helpful come SAT Testing and PSAT.

Ap Bio: Depending on your teacher, you could get lots of homework or at least an hour of homework per night. Do not procrastinate and study every night.

Ap World: I don’t know about the class, but from what I looked at the collegeboard, they changed the test and the curriculum. When purchasing a prep book, get the newest edition, since it will have the updates.

For Ap’s in general: If you can, get the prep books NOW ( if you already haven’t). If in the middle of the year, you find that your teacher isn’t preparing you well, you can refer to these books instead of panicking and waiting for test day to come unprepared. Study as much as possible. Ap scoring was changed to remove the guessing penalty, so don’t worry about getting things wrong in the test. Bubble EVERYTHING!

For school in general: Make sure you balance your time, but have fun! Sophomore year was sort of boring, but it’s a great year to boost your gpa, socialize ( but not too much), try new subjects ( like your Ap’s), etc.

I hope you enjoy your sophomore year and good luck with getting in to Harvard and Princeton!

P.S. I know you’re only going to be a sophomore, but make sure you have match and safety schools along with harvard and princeston.
