10th grade starting AP's

I'm going to take AP Bio, AP U.S., & AP ComputerScience(Already know though).

I'm going to change my classes tomorrow.

Anyone got any tips into helping me succeed and how to convince my dean to let me take them?

Tell him AP Biology is just memorization and that many freshman and sophomores have taken it and succeeded in getting 5’s. AP Computer Science is also a blow-off too; it’s that easy that top colleges like the Ivies will not regard it. I don’t know about APUSH though. Unless you have been performing extremely well in your past history classes, especially those regarding US History, APUSH is going to be a beast.

I luckly got an A in history when I realized I should at least study for the test. I basically blew off second semester and got a B+ but I never read the book. But now I regret that…

What history classes have you taken so far, for each grade 7th - 9th grade?

7th - World History(Greek & stuff too ect)
8th - Geography(Locations & cultures)
9th - Civics & Economics & some US History

What grades did you get in them, and what other classes are you taking next year?

6th - D -> Didn’t care/joked off
7th - B+
8th - A
9th - A

I’m also taking

Algebra ll w/ Precalc
Spanish ll
Honors English
Orchestra-might quit

AP Bio is memorizing stuff that takes common sense. Study and get a 5.
APUSH is reading and memorizing stuff that takes common sense. and writing huge essays. study and get a 5.

won’t even make you sweat

AP Comp Sci - A joke. Literally.
The other classes are Memorization.

o.o you all put me to shame. i had to study my ss off in APUSH just to maintain a B/B+ average! granted i got a 4 on the exam, but still. i’m amazed at how bright you guys are haha. teach me your ways?! *_

Our ways are not meant to be taught, only discovered.
To me personally, these classes are common sense.

it does depend on your teacher though. if say your teacher only gets to the civil war… then you have lots of studying to do for the exam.

it all comes down to just studying…

^^^ I have absolutely no idea. I don’t do anything special. I just learn whatever the teacher says and I study from the textbook. When AP testing time comes around, I just put down what I know. The APUSH exam seemed so ridiculously easy!!! Then I saw that around 48% of all kids who took the APUSH exam this year, failed it (according to CB stats)… I’m was like

***…how could they fail!! It was so easy!

I can’t even imagine…

Plus, for AP exams, generally, you just need to score around 60% (give or take) on the exam to get a 5, right?

To me, it must be really hard to fail AP exams if you’ve been trying to learn the material the whole year.

How can people fail them… I don’t even… I can’t imagine it!!!

Anyway, when I’m studying for tests, things that seem like it should be common sense, I just try to get a general idea of what the concept is. So when it comes up on the test, I’ll “know” some things, but let my common sense take control and help guide me to the right answer.

Concepts that are harder to understand… I just try to memorize the passage from the book until I can recite it verbatim. Probably a little extreme, but this is how it works for me.

^ LOL yeah it’s funny when people fail. They have to get like a 10% or something to do so, which is just pretty sad.

@OP Take AP Bio and APUSH. I think you should put off AP Comp Sci for next year as a self-study if the Orchestra program at your school is really demanding. AP Comp Sci isn’t really useful unless you’re going to major in Computer Science in college. If you are, then I think you should not quit Orchestra and isntead do APUSH the next year so this year you would do AP Bio and AP Comp Sci.

Oh, I forgot to say that the AP Computer Science is an extra class.

What classes do you plan to take in junior year? How demanding is Orchestra?

Wait will I have time for the classes If I play sports>?

If you are going to play sports, then most likely not.

Yes, there are 24 hours in a day. You have pleeenty of time.

My Orchestra isn’t really demanding. Maybe like 1 concert every month or something. And I practice like 15min a day.

@TRUFFLIEPUFF - I wont have enough time? I’m going to do Cross Country, Track, Soccer(Club).

My friends that were in AP Bio & AP USH said that its really easy and I should take it. And they did sports year round. (The teacher boosts grades & easy curve)
